Former Clifton Hospital Site -
As many of you will know, Clifton (Without) Parish Council has taken a keen interest over the years in the former Clifton Hospital site, the grounds of which, for anyone who is not familiar with them, form a beautiful green area of parkland behind Shipton Road and in between the cricket club and the Dormouse pub. Recently, several publicly spirited people have got together to tidy up the area and to help make sure that it stays beautiful.
Over two Saturday mornings in May the volunteers removed all manner of items from the site, from bottles and cans to old fridges and fly tipped builders’ waste. This amounted to a total of three skips worth of rubbish and made a real difference to the appearance of the area.
Cllr Ellis who organised the litter pick said, “I’d like to thank everyone who turned up to help, anyone who wants to help but couldn’t make the recent dates need not worry; there will be more sessions in the future!” Cllr Ellis went on to say, “Clifton Backies and other areas within the city are looked after by ‘friends’ groups which are made up of local volunteers. I think it would be great if a similar group could get together for the hospital site. We’d like fellow residents to consider if this is something that they could help with, and we'll let you know
more as plans develop.”
